7 November 2026: Pakistan’s latest fuel-price cut offers modest relief for drivers. PSO lists petrol at PKR 346 per litre and high-speed diesel at PKR 378 per litre, effective today. Its published rates exclude applicable freight to the outlet, so check the displayed pump price before paying. PSO official prices.
Business Recorder reports reductions of PKR 6.59 for petrol and PKR 4.25 for diesel, with the revised prices effective through 10 November. The announcement was issued on 6 November; the new rates start on 7 November. Read the dated report.
The refill numbers that matter
The examples below compare an identical purchase before and after the change. They are calculations, not promises about any vehicle’s tank capacity or fuel economy. Amounts use the published rates and exclude any additional applicable freight. Your receipt is the final check on what you actually paid.
Purchase | Previous cost · PKR | New cost · PKR | Saving · PKR |
|---|---|---|---|
Petrol · 10 litres | 3,525.90 | 3,460.00 | 65.90 |
Petrol · 40 litres | 14,103.60 | 13,840.00 | 263.60 |
Diesel · 50 litres | 19,112.50 | 18,900.00 | 212.50 |
For motorcycle riders and family cars
A smaller refill produces a smaller cash saving, but it is still worth updating your travel budget. For example, buying ten litres of petrol saves PKR 65.90 against the previous rate. Buying forty litres saves PKR 263.60. Neither calculation assumes that you use that quantity every week or every month.
If you normally buy a fixed rupee amount, the change works differently: your spending stays the same and you receive more fuel. Compare the litres printed on your receipts rather than treating the full refill saving as money left in your pocket. This distinction helps keep a household budget realistic.
For delivery drivers and transport businesses
Diesel users can recalculate the fuel part of a trip using their actual litres. A fifty-litre purchase now works out to PKR 18,900 before applicable freight, a difference of PKR 212.50. Multiply your own fuel volume by the per-litre reduction to estimate the immediate change.
AutoTrader analysis: lower fuel expenditure can ease one part of an operator’s costs. It does not establish that passenger fares, delivery charges or goods prices have fallen. Those outcomes need separate evidence from the operator or the relevant authority. Ask for the current fare or quotation instead of assuming a matching reduction.
Different drivers, different checks
Who | What to check |
|---|---|
Daily commuter | Actual litres bought and the pump receipt |
Ride-hailing driver | Fuel cost per trip against the fare received |
Transport operator | Fuel volume and the current customer quotation |
When comparing vehicles, use a consistent journey and a realistic economy figure. Fuel cost per kilometre equals price per litre divided by kilometres per litre. A worked example is a 100-kilometre journey at ten kilometres per litre: that needs ten litres. At the current petrol figure, its fuel component is PKR 3,460 before applicable freight. This is an illustration, not a tested mileage claim.
Before your next refill
Check the effective date and the fuel grade on the price board.
Record litres, rate and total from your receipt.
Use your own measured economy when planning a journey.
Confirm fares and delivery charges directly with the provider.
Recheck prices before your next purchase; this is a dated update.
